I am so excited to start creating more dramatic play set ups for my daughter this year. Dramatic play or pretend play is so beneficial to children. It helps them develop so many important skills while playing, they don’t even realize they’re learning. Use these printables and items you already have at home to set this up for your own children.

Benefits Of Dramatic Play
There are so many benefits to dramatic play for young children. There are two kinds of dramatic play, structured and unstructured. Creating set ups like this lemonade stand is a structured set up because you are giving your child the play scenario and tools to use to inform their play. Both kinds of dramatic play are beneficial to young children and have a place in early childhood education. Dramatic play allows them to develop their imaginations and creativity, express their strong emotions, play out real-world scenarios, develop language skills, and practice literacy and math skills.

How To Set Up The Dramatic Play Lemonade Stand
To set up the lemonade stand, I first scoured my closets for materials I already had on hand. I created the printables to add to the market stand and gathered trays, play cups, spoons, pom-poms, and our play kitchen sets. We don’t have a cash register so I decided to include my daughter in the set up and give her green construction paper to cut into small strips for our money. Including her in the set up of our activities always gets her more excited to play! If you don’t have a market stand like this, no worries! You can easily set this up at a table or bookshelf that you already have.

We took turns working the lemonade stand and playing the customer. I love that the menu provides us with counting and number recognition practice while we play. Dramatic play set ups like this allow for so much learning through play!
I hope you enjoy playing and learning with this dramatic play lemonade stand.
