October Currently

October 2, 2015 5 Comments
The beginning of a new month can only mean one thing…it’s time for Farley at Oh Boy 4th Grade’s monthly currently linky party!
Listening: Bridget Jones’s Diary has been a favorite of mine for years.  It may have started my obsession with all things British.  This combined with Jane Austin is a deadly (yet embarrassing?!) obsession.  I recently found it on TV and immediately DVR’ed it.  Now I can play it whenever I need a Bridget fix.
Loving: My favorite month of the entire year is October!  I love the quote from a childhood favorite of mine, Anne of Green Gables, ” I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”  I second that Anne.  Bring on the colored leaves, crisp weather, pumpkin EVERYTHING, and ABC Family’s 13 nights of Halloween.  Yes, I am a fan.
Thinking: Unfortunately, my math block is my weakest area of instruction.  I have been trying to get comfortable with Envisions for two years now and every year I try and tweak it and make it work for my current students.  I have always strived to teach math in a more small group setting and I am determined this year to try and make it work.  It’s definitely a work in progress, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Wanting: It’s Fall.  I need new boots.  I want new boots.  Need I say more?  Every woman deserves a new pair when the weather turns cooler.
Needing: I love to read. It’s my escape and I love to get lost in a good book.  Sadly, I haven’t found one that I have been able to get hooked on since reading Girl On The Train over the summer.  I would love for some interesting but enjoyable book suggestions!
Boo-tiful: I have recently been getting back into a routine with spin classes and I have to say there’s nothing better than finishing (surviving) a 50 minute intense spin class and feeling like you rocked it.  I feel absolutely boo-tiful and powerful after I finish.  Now that I’m talking about it, I must sign up for one this weekend!
Thank you so much for stopping by and reading about what I’m currently up to!  Make sure to link back to Farley’s blog to catch up on other fabulous blogger’s current activities!  Happy Friday!!

Jayme, Bridget Jone's Diary is one of my go to movies, I love it! I also am so happy that my favorite month is here. I can't wait to start to decorate for fall. I recently pinned 9 books if you love Scandal and these are a few titles that came up: Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty, The Whole Golden World by Kristina Riggle, and Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling. I'm not sure how good they are, I haven't had a chance to check them out, but that is definitely on my to-do list. Have a wonderful day friend! šŸ™‚

    Hi Jayme!
I love anything by Lliane Moriarty. My favorite was What Alice Forgot. Diana's recommendation of Big Little Lies is what I'm reading now. I'm also starting The Book of Lost Things for book club. Everyone is LOVING it. Hope that helps! I hear you with guided math. Stick with it. It is worth it. My students learning and test scores really improved once I fully implemented it. They loved it too. Happy Friday!

Bridget Jones is fab, the films are great, so funny! Love how you get involved with the spin classes, I seriously lack motivation for this, especially since going away on vacation – it's so hard to get back into it all! I'm also struggling to find a great book to get lost into at the moment!

Hi Jayme! I also want (need) some new boots and adore the season of autumn as well! I actually have 'The Girl on the Train' in my library queue. I have heard nothing but fabulous things about it. I have a few books selections of books I absolutely love: 'Molokai' by Alan Brennert (my husband and I just booked a trip to Molokai for Christmas), 'The Paris Wife' by Paula McLain, and anything by Jhumpa Lahiri or John Krakauer.
