Five for Friday!

July 17, 2015 7 Comments
Good morning all and happy Friday!  This week, actually this entire month of July, has been going so quickly!  I can’t believe that next week we’re already in late July and so many of my teacher/blogging friends are preparing to go back to school!  I’ve been working back and forth at school and home on my district’s new ELA program so I’m keeping busy.  But, we don’t officially go back until September.
This week was so much fun as a blogger because even though I wasn’t able to attend the conference in Vegas this year, I felt like I went from all of my wonderful friends that I’ve met along this journey.  Everyone is so willing to share big takeaways and favorite moments from the conference that I felt energized to work on more TpT products this week and connect with new modes of social media!  Thank you friends, you are wonderful!  Going off of that, I’m linking up with Kacey from Doodle Bugs Teaching to highlight my Five for Friday!  Here we go:

If you are not signed up for Periscope yet, I highly suggest it!  I got passed my nerve on Sunday after I was tagged to participate in the #Periscopeteacherchallenge and bit the bullet and recorded myself!  It was nerve-wracking at first but once some of my blogging buddies showed up and I saw some friendly faces/names I felt so much better!  It’s been a wonderful opportunity to connect with other teachers around the world and learn some valuable professional development.
I don’t know how often I’ll post myself, but I’ve been loving getting glimpses into other teacher’s classrooms, home offices, and chatting with so many of you!

Speaking of being motivated and inspired, I finished my Word Study Starter Kit packet this week and I am so excited to share it with you!  This year, my school is adapting a hybrid version of Words Their Way and the Word Study program that Houghton Mifflin Journeys offers.  The curriculum team and I have been working hard to fit these programs into what we want and need for our students.  It’s been a large task but so well worth it!
This packet that I created, will not only help myself and other teachers at my school implement our new word study program but other teachers as well.  This 40 page packet has student schedules, schedule cards for display, sort posters, several word work activities for additional practice, and weekly planning sheets!  It has been a labor of love so I hope you’ll find it useful!
If you are interested in purchasing this packet, it’s on sale through the weekend in my TpT store here!
How adorable is this mug?!  I needed some motivation this week to get creative so I pulled out my trusty C. Jayne Teach mug from her website here that I just love.  It’s always a sense of inspiration for me throughout the school year!  I recommend her products for the Back to School craziness!
This passed week my husband and I have been trying to enjoy our sweet little city and get in a few date nights.  During the summer, I’m  well rested and willing to stay out passed my bedtime so we’re trying to take advantage of my renewed energy!  We stopped by my favorite spot in our little city, the pier along the water where there are tons of food trucks and we snagged my favorite dessert.  It’s blended banana made to taste like frozen yogurt! This kind that I got is called banana cream pie and it has graham crackers, Nutella, and whipped cream.  Yup…delicious.
Speaking of my husband, he gets the best sport award from last weekend!  We shook it off like professionals at the Taylor Swift show and had a blast!  If you’re not a fan I still recommend seeing her live.  She puts on an amazing concert, not to mention her guests are incredible!  We were lucky enough to be there when the USA women’s soccer team was invited out on stage!  I had chills as the U-S-A chant was going on!  Truly a memorable night.
I found this image on Pinterest and wanted to share.  I thought it was so perfect for teachers/bloggers/anyone who’s feeling a little overwhelmed.  We all need to remember to do MORE of what makes us happy.  Whether that’s taking a break and being with family, working on TpT projects until the sun comes up, etc.  make sure it makes you happy.
I hope you all have a wonderful, happy, and relaxing weekend!
Thank you for stopping by!

I think I need one of those coffee mugs for myself – so cute! I've always wanted to see Taylor Swift – my boss is taking her kids this weekend and I'm watching her dog for her haha. Maybe next year?
