Hump Day Highlight–Inspire Random Acts of Kindness

Happy hump day everyone!  Is it just me or does this feel like an incredibly long week?  We had a delayed opening Monday morning and ever since then I have felt thrown off.  I spent most of today thinking it was Thursday, and with no Scandal Thursdays to look forward to I was very disappointed.  Luckily, I came across Mrs. Stanford’s Class hump day highlight linky and I am very excited to participate!

Today I’m highlighting my Share the Love pack to help inspire random acts of kindness throughout the month of February.  Each February randomactsofkindness.org promotes the International Random Acts of Kindness Week from February 9-15.  This packet will not only encourage staff members but students as well to “Share the Love,” and pass the R.A.K.

Get your students excited to participate in random acts of kindness throughout the month of February by sharing a letter from the “Cupid Capers Club.”  In this letter they will be asked by the founding member, Vincent Valentine, to join this top secret club that spreads love by anonymously creating and sharing random acts of kindness throughout your school or community.

After some discussion about what this top secret club does, students can sign their name to a pledge that you can proudly display around the classroom.

As a class call a meeting of the Cupid Capers Club and brainstorm some ways that the students can show kindness and compassion to staff members, other students, or administrators.  If you would prefer, there are R.A.K. suggestions detailed within the pack to help get some ideas started.

After the club members select a random act of kindness they can work together to put the activity in motion!  You may choose to have other teachers aware that they will be the recipient of a random act of kindness or let it be a surprise with this special note when the students deliver their R.A.K.!

After your club shoots the first kindness arrow, the random acts of kindness will spread quickly throughout your school!  To extend students’ understanding of kindness, I have included several follow up activities to complete.  Such as a friendly letter template, my favorite R.A.K. writing activity, and short passages where students must brainstorm kind acts that the characters should do.

After your students complete their first random act of kindness, display this sign outside of your classroom to continue to encourage others to spread the love!

I hope you will find this packet inspiring and want to encourage random acts of kindness with your students this year!  Please check it out in my tpt store here…Share the Love!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoy the rest of your week!!  But if all else fails…drink coffee =)
