Toddler Activities for September

Toddler Activities for September

Hi all!  I am so excited to share these September printables and activity ideas for the month of September because Fall is my absolute favorite time of year.  No matter what the weather, once September 1st hits, I am in major Fall mode!  I love it all from the change of the leaves to the apples and pumpkin spiced everything.  So, it’s really no surprise that this set of toddler activities for September are among some of my favorites!

I have compiled some of our favorite early Fall picture books, hands on activities, and printables that we will be using for our homeschool preschool this month. These September Toddler Activities will be keeping us busy to learn and play throughout the entire month.

Apple Orchard Name Building

One of my favorite September Toddler Activities from the set is this Apple Orchard Name Building activity.  Using the apple printables and apple barrel, we easily set up our own apple orchard right in our home for my daughter to practice building her name.  I simply taped some butcher paper to the wall after sketching a quick tree onto it and taped her laminated apple letters onto it.  She picked her letters to match her name on her apple barrel.

Apple Volcanoes

This apple science activity was a huge hit with all of the kids in our homeschool preschool co-op.  This simple science experiment is part of our September Learn and Play Activity Guide and the perfect easy set up!  For each child we used two apples, a bowl of baking soda, food coloring, and white vinegar to set up this apple volcano science experiment. The kids had so much fun watching the reaction when the vinegar was added to the baking soda!

Fine Motor Paper Plate Apple

This classic toddler Fall craft was perfect for our Mommy Playschool. Even though this looks like a simple craft, it’s great fine motor practice!  We listened to this favorite book by Anne Rockwell called, Apples and Pumpkins and then got started on our craft.  All you need to set this apple craft up is green, brown, and red construction paper, a glue stick, and a paper plate. The kids loved the glue the most but ripping the paper was great practice! Another simple toddler activity for September.

Apple Tree Sticker Letter Match

This apple tree sticker letter match was the perfect way for us to welcome Fall.  This letter recognition activity was so simple to set up and really fun paired with our green kinetic sand.

Easy sensory bins are one of our favorite toddler activities so it’s no surprise that this was a big hit in our home.  To set this up, I took three toilet paper rolls that I had and created construction paper trees using them.  I wrote a few letters onto the green construction paper and then copied the same ones onto red Avery stickers to act as our apples.  I added them to our sensory bin with our green kinetic sand and apple mini erasers from the Target Dollar Spot.

Little Miss was asked to “pick” an apple letter sticker and place it on the matching tree. This one was such a fun letter recognition activity and we will definitely use it again!
