Hi all! I’m back with a little Five for Friday recap from Kacey at Doodle Bugs Teaching! My week can be described perfectly with this picture:
Throw in some TpT creating and loving all of the Vegas photos I’ve been stalking I MEAN seeing, then you get a pretty good picture of what I’ve been up to!
But, in the spirit of the linkup here are a few highlights from my week when I wasn’t being asked if I’m still watching this show…YES, NETFLIX I AM!!! Anyone else get so annoyed by that little window that pops up?! I hope it’s not just me!
Anyway, here are some highlights from my week:

I scored BIG at Target Dollar Spot this week! I had been seeing so many friend’s Instagram posts with amazing hauls and I was so sad to be missing out (FOMO rears its’ ugly head again). So, I was so excited to finally hit the jackpot on Monday with these fantastic finds! I found so many things that I’m excited about! I’ll definitely be using the workbooks and flashcards while I tutor some previous students over the summer to keep their skills sharp.
I loved the sweet sign that says, ” Today is a Great Day to Learn Something New!” I would love to have that hanging by my door for every student to see wen they walk into the classroom in the morning. What a simple yet powerful saying to share with my new little firsties!
I’m also in LOVE with the adorable Number 2 pencil mason jar that I found hidden in the bottom of the bins! I’m thinking of using them to house special birthday pencils or other pencils to use on special occasions!
But, the thing I’m most excited for are those blank books I found! I’m hoping to use them for class journals to keep in the writing center. It would be ideal if every student could use a page to respond to a question or write about a monthly topic in them. My brain is churning from all the possibilities! What have you found in the Dollar Spot lately?

A few weeks ago I entered a contest on Instagram to win an Ellison Super Star machine. When I say I never win anything, I mean NOTHING!!! So you can only image how surprised I was when I got an email from a super sweet rep from Ellison telling me that I had won their contest! I was able to choose any dies from their website, Ellisoneduction.com, totaling $50. I picked out a puzzle die, a frame die, and a basic shapes die. I can’t wait to start creating things for my classroom with this amazing machine!
I’m already thinking that I’m going to use the frame die to help me create a hallway display with all my new students pictures to hang throughout the year with work that they do. This will definitely not be the last time you hear about this machine from me!

If you’re like me and you were unable to go to the TpT conference in Vegas this year then you probably spent most of the week hiding from social media because you didn’t want to see all of the fun that you missed out on.
Well, leave it to the amazing Ashley from Schroeder Shenanigans in 2nd and Angie from Lucky Little Learners to find a way to make us stay at home TpTers feel a part of the action! They have been using the Periscope app to live stream different take-aways and helpful tips that they’ve gathered from the conference. It has been AMAZING!
In one of their live videos, they talked about the importance of not giving up and believing in your own journey. I felt so inspired by this message because it is so easy to compare your TpT/blogging journey with others, especially those that have been doing this for a much longer time and you just can’t do that. The only thing you can do is work hard and believe in the message that you’re putting out there and the products you’re creating. As Ashley always says, “Be You.”
The other point they mentioned that had been repeated several times throughout the different TpT sessions was the importance of collaborating and “finding your tribe.” I feel so lucky to have connected with so many wonderful bloggers, teachers, and sellers in my short experience and can’t wait to add more members to “my tribe.” I have to give a huge shout out to my sweet sweet blogging friend, Diana at My Day in K for quickly becoming my blogging buddy/friend in real life. Our Tell All Tuesday linky party has been the HIGHLIGHT of my summer so far! I hope you’ll join us for our next one, it’s going to be so fun!

Speaking of TpT, I finally got out of my creating rut and I have Creative Teaching Press to thank for it! I have quickly fallen in love with their Painted Palette collection and I know I will be purchasing the adorable set shortly. I mean, have you seen these scalloped borders?! COME ON! So cute!
I knew I wanted to have the rest of my classroom decor match, so I’m planning on using black fabric to cover my bulletin boards and then finishing it off with a Soft Brights theme! I have already created my Alphabet Posters and Leveled Library Labels to match!

I just love the way they came out! I’ll be talking more about them in a future blog post but if you’re interested in seeing more of these products now, you can find them in my TpT store here! We may not go back until September, but I’m already itching to start decorating!

The last and MOST exciting highlight is one that’s coming up tonight….SQUEAL! I can’t keep calm because…
I’m going to the Taylor Swift concert tonight!
My husband bought tickets for my for my birthday this year and we (yes, him and I) are going with another couple we’re friends with! Yes, four almost 30 year olds in a sea of teenagers…I.CAN’T.WAIT! I will be singing along to all of her songs so I apologize in advance to anyone that will be sitting by us! Any other T Swift teacher fans out there?!
As for the rest of the weekend, I’ll be spending more time with my sweet pup Roger. He met a new friend last weekend, his first real experience with kids aside from seeing them on the sidewalk and letting them pet him. I’m so happy that he was so good with this little guy! He even let him comb his hair!

So sweet. There’s hope for his crazy ways yet.
I hope you all had a fabulous week! If you’re in Vegas I hope you are having the time of your life, I will be joining you next year for usre! If you’re not, I hope you had a relaxing and productive week with friends and family.
Thanks for stopping by!

Oh sweet friend, you just made my morning! I am so thankful we have connected through this wonderful blogging community as well! You are the best! I can't wait to see all the creations you make with your Ellison machine! Your new products are great and I am proud of your work this week! I have also done a whole lot of Netflix watching! I always angry fist that "Are you still watching?!" Yes, I am still watching and No I do not plan on moving, thanks for checking in. I wonder if after a few of those messages they send in an intervention team! 😉 Have a GREAT time at the Taylor Swift concert, can't wait to hear about it!
I totally understand your frustration with Netflix. I hate when it asks that too. I just finished Scandal (love it) and am re-watching Friday Night Lights. What have you been watching on there? Have fun at the concert!

Wow! I related so much to your Five for Friday! I have also been viewing periscope this week to see all that is happening in Vegas this past week. Totally jealous, but being a brand new blogger I had no place being there! I am brand new to this whole thing and am really just loving writing on my blog right now. I am too intimidated to start TPT'ing, but I know I will get there soon. I have a met a few bloggers from my home state that are really great and I hope to make some more blogging friends too! Hope you have fun at your Taylor Swift concert!
