March Currently

March 2, 2015 8 Comments

Happy March everyone!  I can’t believe it’s already here, but I’m ready for it.  I want to celebrate the new month with Farley for a new currently!

Listening:  Let me start off my saying I am NOT a spontaneous person!  But, my husband and family got together to surprise me with a little weekend getaway to Florida.  The reason for the trip was to celebrate my upcoming birthday and a chance to relax and spend some quality time with the hubby.  I hemmed and hawed about going because this was not in the plan for this week!  I said, you want me to do what?!  In 3 days?!  I was really hesitant to say yes.  I know I know, most of you must be saying girl are you crazy?!  But, it’s just not me to do things on a whim!

I didn’t listen to my inner voice and went anyway (I listened to the little devil on my shoulder that said beachhhhh, sanddddd, umbrella in your drink!)  I have to say spontaneity has its bonuses!  My husband and I had a great weekend relaxing and enjoying each other’s company…until reality hit.  Two delays, one cancellation, and one diverted plane to DC later, here I sit in the Dulles airport listening to HUNDREDS of angry travelers trying to get to their final destinations.  This was the customer service line at 2 am last night.  Womp womp, my planner side said well that’s what you get my dear!

Loving:  On a lighter note I am LOVING my purchases from the TpT sale!  I can’t stop thinking about new product ideas to use with my adorable Whimsy Clips kids, KG and Cara Carroll fonts, and Sonya Dehart digital papers!  Her sale offers were AMAZING!!!  I may or may not have chosen this detective clip art because the dog looks like my puppy Roger!

I think there’s a definite similarity!  This is my new drawing conclusions activity pack in my store.  I can’t wait to use it this week with my littles!  There’s different case files that they’re going to investigate in hopes of solving the clues with Detective Dan and Inspector Spot!  Check it out here if you’re interested in some cooperative learning fun!
Thinking:  I am not the most exciting birthday reveler which is why this trip is such an exception to my usual rules.  But, even still I really hope we make it home before my birthday tomorrow!  All I want is to enjoy some down time with my loves and go out to dinner with my family.  I hope it happens!
Wanting:  Have you checked out the Worksheets Don’t Grow Dendrites book study that Elizabeth Hall is hosting over at Kickin’ It In Kindergarten?!  If not, please please go check out the posts!  The ideas are so inspiring from different bloggers and teachers who are reading Marcia Tate’s book and brainstorming practical ideas for how to use this best practice in your own classroom. I know once I get back into the classroom I will be setting up families to work together and trying a new turn and talk strategy called “lean and tell,” from the always inspiring KinderGals! It’s definitely worth a read!  The book study will continue this week with other bloggers hosting throughout the month!
Needing: I think this one is pretty self explanatory!  Here’s some photo evidence of where I was yesterday as opposed to today…I need to keep picturing myself there!

Spring Break Plans:  This weekend was a preliminary spring break for me.  My district doesn’t go on break until April so we still have a long ways to go.  BUT, once we reach that happy time I plan on spending it at home in NJ catching up with friends, family, doing some creating for new TpT products, and a lot a lot of resting and relaxing!

Happy March everyone!  I hope this is a very LUCKY month for you all!

    Hi Jayme,
Good for you, being spontaneous and heading to the beach. Even though it's been a hassle to get back, it's all out of your control. Good lesson for just going with the flow. I'm loving the book study too. I need to read for tomorrow. I'm sure you're probably reading too while stuck in the airport. I've been through a few of those. Roger is adorable!

Hi Joya! You're so right, I need to realize when things are out of my control and focus on th fact that we were able to enjoy a little getaway and get home safely! That's what matters! I need to review what I read for tomorrow and figure out what I'd like to focus on! So many ideas swirling in my head! Have a great week!

That spontaneous trip sounds like fun! I'm glad you had a good time, šŸ™‚ I'm counting down the days until we go on vacation for spring break, I am in desperate need for some sunshine and warm weather. That book study book looks so interesting, I think I am going to have to purchase it.

It was so nice and I know that I need to focus on the positives rather than the things I can't control! Where are you going on vacation? I hope you have a wonderful time! I need spring to hurry up and get here! I definitely suggest the book Worksheets Don't Grow Dendrites, it's definitely best practice and her strategies are easily implemented. I hope you enjoy it!

Your beach trip looks wonderful – the trip home, not so much. Good for you for going outside of your comfort zone! I am loving my TpT sale purchases too. Can't wait to use some of my new clipart!
    Happy Birthday!
